Plated Review

Plated

Last week E and I weren’t in the mood to go food shopping so we decided to try out a food delivery service.  We decided on Plated because you could actually choose the meals you would be cooking! I chose Cheesy Cauliflower Quinoa Casserole, Mushroom Udon and Braised Cod with Rainbow Chard and Cannellini Beans. Of the three, the Mushroom Udon was definitely my favorite, while E’s was the Braised Cod (he hates mushrooms – I will never understand it). I was a bit skeptical about services like these because I actually enjoy menu planning my week and then walking up and down the aisles at Trader Joe’s to pick everything out. I am not going to lie, it was really nice to have a week off!

When the box arrived I felt as I suspect a child on Christmas morning would feel. So giddy! I couldn’t wait to unpack all of the ingredients and the recipes. The recipes were easy to follow and had pictures for every step. They do recommend reading each recipe in its entirety before starting to cook. I HIGHLY recommend following this instruction. I didn’t listen when I made the Cheesy Cauliflower Quinoa Casserole and I regretted it.

It was nice to have just the right amount of every ingredient for the recipe. Often I decide to make something I have never made before and I end up buying a bottle of an ingredient that I never or rarely use again. Additionally, Plated is a time saver. Not only do you not have to food shop, but every meal took about 30-45 minutes total, including prep and cooking time. That is lightning fast! I don’t know about you, but the last place I want to be standing for over an hour after a long day of work is in my kitchen. Tasty food on the table in less then an hour? I’m in. I will definitely be using Plated again soon!

I would love to hear about your experiences with Plated and/or other food delivery services. Please leave comments below.
