Community Garden Update

It has been a couple weeks since I shared that I started gardening and I thought it might be nice to give everyone an update.

I have been gardening ALL weekend! After several showers to get all the dirt off I am finally ready to type everything up 🙂

My seeds have sprouted, my seedlings are growing and I have planted additional vegetables and herbs. All of my beet seeds actually sprouted. Unfortunately they sprouted all right on top of one another. With the help of the (very friendly and lifesaving) couple who has the plot next to mine, I was able to dig up, separate and replant them as singles. If they all survive we will be eating beets for weeks! I can’t stop thinking of all of the beet and goat cheese salads!

The plot is now at full capacity. I don’t think I have room to add anything else. I added marigolds (to stave off the bugs), Japanese eggplant, red bell peppers, shishito peppers, sage, thyme, green beans, sugar snap peas, fennel, dill, curly kale and lettuce. So much green goodness! It is going to be a very green summer here in South Orange!
