Last weekend, E and I FINALLY found Ippodo!!!
When we were in Kyoto we were lucky enough to get two spots in Haru Cooking Classย – HIGHLY recommended. Our teacher, Taro, and his wife started class by serving Ippodoย Iribancha tea (more on the class in a future post). E and I couldn’t get enough! Throughout the class we kept refilling our glasses. In fact, this Iribancha tea has started a much larger tea obsession that started and ended with a rather amazing trip to Teavana. But I digress…
Ever since landing back in New Jersey we have been on a mission to find the famous Iribancha tea. After much internet research I found out that Ippodo Kyoto has a location in New York City. We were so excited to have a cup of Iribancha tea, it was our first stop after arriving at Penn Station. It is a block away from Grand Central Station. We quickly purchased a cup of tea. It was just as we expected; smokey and dark with great depth of flavor. It really is the perfect morning cup. We were even able to purchase individual tea bags for home consumption. Wandering aroundย city with a hot cup of tea this time of year is absolute perfection. We highly recommend it!
Ever tried Iribancha tea? What do you think about it?
