Sautéed Apples with Rosemary, Thyme and Cinnamon

SWEET: Sauteed Apples with Rosemary, Thyme and CinnamonI love sweets, desserts, chocolate, brownies, cakes, and donuts. Especially donuts. They are my number one weakness! We have been trying to steer clear of these kinds of desserts, substituting fruit instead.  Sliced strawberries, while very tasty, have been getting a little bit boring. I wanted to spice things up a bit.  I decided to sauté up some apples with some of our favorite herbs. We mixed the apples with some fresh strawberries and kiwi. The outcome was delicious!

Ingredients:

2 apples, peeled, cored and diced

Margarine, 2 tablespoons

Fresh Rosemary, 1 sprig, chopped

Dried Thyme, 1/2 teaspoon

Cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon

Directions:

1.  Heat margarine in a saucepan on low to medium heat until melted.

2.  Sauté the apples with the spices until tender. Do not overcook. We aren’t looking for an applesauce consistency.

3.  Once at desired tenderness, spoon into a bowl, then chill in the fridge.

4.  Serve with your favorite sliced fruit. Blueberries. Strawberries. Kiwi. All great compliments to the apples!

  • Yum! I love the sweet and savory mix of this, I’ll definitely have to give it a try! And looking forward to following your Japan adventures, what great pictures!
