Hello Kitty At JANM Downtown Los Angeles

Two weeks ago, E and I were in Los Angeles to celebrate Passover with my extended family. One afternoon, after a long road trip, we, with my little sister in tow, visited the Japanese American National Museum in Downtown Los Angeles. We were there to see the Hello Kitty exhibit – Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty.  The exhibit is to celebrate 40 years of Hello Kitty! I cannot believe she has been around for that long!

I grew up with all things Hello Kitty (all of my friends think of me whenever anything Hello Kitty is in the news) and am still a bit obsessed.  The first floor of the exhibit is dedicated to Hello Kitty items through the ages. They have new and old Hello Kitty memorabilia. Most of which I have owned at one point in my life. Thanks Mom!  The second floor contains art pieces that use Hello Kitty’s image or likeness, or are an interpretation of her friends and her. There is some pretty wacky and interesting stuff! There is also a section dedicated to Hello Kitty fashion. The exhibit runs until May 31st, 2015 and I highly recommend visiting! Everyone, young and old, or young at heart, will enjoy it!
