September and now October have been INSANELY busy with the high holidays and work etc. that I have not had the time to blog. But don’t worry. I have been cooking and baking up a storm. So many new recipes and adventure posts coming soon.
We were invited out for dinner this past Sunday night for the Sukkot holiday and I was asked to bring challah. I was not in the mood for my regular recipe so I decided to try something different. My bread machine is on its last legs so I opted for a recipe that didn’t require one. A friend of mine recently recommended Smitten Kitchen’s “best challah (egg bread)” recipe. It looked pretty simple and I already had all of the ingredients on hand so I gave it a try. The results were nothing short of spectacular. The challah browned nicely but remained moist on the inside. It was a little dense in a good way. Instead of using chocolate chips or raisins, I used Ocean Spray Craisins. They were such a nice change! I served each slice with a little drizzle of honey. The perfect fall bite! The only thing missing was a splash of pumpkin….Now there is an idea. Maybe next week!
If you have not tried this recipe yet, you MUST!

The Round Braid
Do you have any tips for making the round braid?
I made a regular braid and then wrapped it into a circle. That was the easiest way!
