Over Labor Day Weekend, E, Nathan, and I headed down towards Asbury Park for some family fun. You know…eating all of the delicious food, while also taking in some sun and sand. That is how we roll! On the way down we took a little detour to Farmly, a newer restaurant that opened in Sea Girt. Farmly Neighborhood Kitchen was founded in 2017 by Chef James Avery to “bring nourishing food from ‘farm to family’ with soulful home cooking in between.” To read more about their story click HERE. Farmly invited us down to have lunch on them. Their menu looked really interesting, so we took them up on their very generous offer!
When we arrived, we were struck by the clean and sleek decor. Everything is white with wood accents. The only pops of color come from the blue and red Farmly name and logo and the greenery spruced throughout. I loved it all! E and I quickly scanned the menu and placed our order at the front. We ordered the Seasonal Vegetarian Rotisserie Kids Plate with a side of Macaroni and Cheese for Nathan, the Seasonal Vegetarian Rotisserie Plate with Roasted Cauliflower with Za’atar and Sesame, and Corn & Quinoa with Queso Fresco and Jalapeño for me, and the Roast Beef Sandwich for E. E and I each selected Nourished by Nature Beverages. I picked the Lavender Lemonade, while E selected the Herbal Palmer. We couldn’t wait for our meal to be ready!!! Everything looked and smelled so delicious.
When everything was ready they called our name and handed me our food. My meal included a Honey Lavender Corn Muffin that looked AMAZING. Nathan was chomping at the bit to dig into his Macaroni and Cheese. So, of course, we had to feed him first! After Nathan had a couple bites, E and I dug into our respective meals. The Vegetarian Rotisserie entree of the day was a roasted spaghetti squash with a chimichurri sauce. The spaghetti squash was roasted to perfection and the chimichurri sauce really packed a big flavor punch. Nathan really loved the spaghetti squash as well! Of my two side dishes, I definitely preferred the Roasted Cauliflower. The pairing of Za’atar and Sesame was slightly smokey and so interesting and delicious. The cauliflower was roasted perfectly and was so tender, but still had a little bite to it. E really loved his Roast Beef Sandwich. He said the Atomic Sauce added a really nice horseradish kick.
Overall, we were really impressed with our meals. All of the food was fresh and really flavorful. We will definitely be going back the next time we head down the shore!
