As you know, just before Nathan was born (a little over 17 months ago – WOW TIME FLIES!), E and I bought our first home. When we first moved in, I had grand plans to decorate the entire house within a year of moving in. Ha! Talk about a pipe dream. Decorating is HARD!
One space that I had been dying to finish was our upstairs hallway. I knew I wanted to to fill it with a gallery wall of large framed black and white family photos. Just before Thanksgiving, the lovely team at Artifact Uprising reached out and offered to gift us a few framed photos to start! We had used Artifact Uprising in the past for photo books and to put together a wedding album filled with photos from our wedding for my parents and in-laws, so I jumped at the opportunity!
I was so excited to finally be making progress. I scoured through all of our photos over a week and a half and selected my favorites. There were so many good ones to choose from. I chose one photo from our wedding, three photos that Lauren (of Laurel Creative) took of our family, and our most recent family photo from Little Nest. After sharing them with E (it is his house too, after all), I was ready to start!
Ordering from the Artifact Uprising website is so easy! Their interface is so user friendly. First, I headed to their frame selection. After reviewing ALL of the options, I selected the black gallery frame in the 16 x 20 size because I wanted something classic, but also wanted the photos to make a statement. After uploading all of the photos to their editor, I then was able to place the photos in each frame. I made sure that nobody’s head was cut off, and that everything was centered. It only took a few minutes! Then I added each to my cart as I finished. The whole process only took about 15 minutes! About a week and a half later, the finished photos arrived safely at my door. Honestly, I think picking the photos was the hardest part! Aside from finding someone to hang them :-/
That is where my delay in posting comes in… I meant to post this back in December, but it took us a while (read: MONTHS) to hang them up! E and I are the LEAST HANDY people on the planet. All I can say is THANK GOD for Task Rabbit! I use them for just about everything. I hired a tasker to come and hang everything up. He was so incredibly methodical and didn’t make multiple holes in the wall. After a few hours (I had him hang a bunch of other things as well), it was ALL DONE! Easy peasy. If you are useless with tools like me, click HERE for $10 off your first task! You will thank me later.
It has been so fun seeing my vision for the hallway come to life! I am OBSESSED with how the gallery wall came out. I cannot wait to add more framed photos to the hallway over time. We will definitely be using Artifact Uprising to continue, and highly recommend them if you are looking to start your own gallery wall!
Thank you Artifact Uprising for partnering on this post.
