Over the last year or so, the prairie trend has become very popular. Prairie dresses have been popping up all over my Instagram feed. While the trend has piqued my interest, I have been watching it grow from afar. I am (not so) secretly obsessed with ALL OF THE Doen tops and dresses.
While I have picked up a few pieces from Doen, none of them are full blown prairie. I just haven’t been able to justify the expense when I am not entirely sure I could rock the trend. One lunch break a few weeks ago, I was wandering through J.Crew at the mall (SO DANGEROUS) and I decided to try the trend there. This prairie top was calling my name and it came in the most beautiful mustard hue. I really loved the eyelet pattern and delicate ruffle detailing. I thought that if it looked cute on, it would be a top that would wear well through the rest of summer and into fall. Well….surprise! I LOVED the way the top fit! So much so, that I have contemplated going back to get it in white!
Here, I have styled my prairie top with a pair of high waisted (mom) jeans and a cute pair of pointed flats, and a pair of denim shorts with my favorite affordable rattan mules, to show you how I will be wearing the top from summer into fall.
