My Fave Five – June and July 2021

You may have noticed that, over the last few months, I have taken a step back from the blog and social media. Between work, the kids, working out, and everything else, I just haven’t been able to find the time to sit down and write. While I originally planned on posting three times a week this year, I am now going to try for (a more realistic) one blog post a week! I am hoping that is more manageable. Every once in a while you may see two or three posts a week. We shall see!

I am excited to share what I have been up two the last few months. Here are my five faves from June and July 2021!

JUNE

ONE

More Gardening

June was FILLED with lots of gardening and harvesting of cherry tomatoes (by Nathan), kale, beets, and radishes! Lots of fresh salads were had by all!

TWO

Turning 36…

I turned 36 years old in June. 36 doesn’t feel much different than 35.

My brother has started to tell people I am 40. LOVELY.

THREE

Patio Time

We have been LIVING on our patio. Seriously the best investment of 2020 from which we are FINALLY reaping the benefits. It is so nice to be able to sit out on the patio and watch as the kiddos run around and play!

FOUR

Swimming Lessons at Goldfish Swim School in Livingston

We re-started the kiddos’ swim lessons at Goldfish a few months back, and they both LOVE going. Such water babies. Nathan even swam on his own for a bit a few weeks ago! It was so exciting to watch! Check out my review of Goldfish Swim School in Livingston HERE.

FIVE

The End of My Peloton Streak…

This spicy margarita is the reason why my 147 day Peloton Streak ended… I am DEFINITELY bitter about it. E and I went out one night for drinks and dessert at one of my favorite local bars, Boxcar Bar in Short Hills. I am not sure what possessed me to order a spicy drink (I HATE spicy food), but I did. While it smelled delicious, it was a little too spicy for me. And it was so strong! ALL of the tequila. I had three sips and was pretty drunk. So…when we got home I was in no shape to work out. And I forgot to do a 5 minute meditation. So…NO BLUE DOT FOR ME. It was VERY upsetting. Way more upsetting then I thought it would be. I worked so hard to work out every day for so long. UGH. Well, since then I have been working out almost every day. I usually take two or three days off a month. Also…no more spicy margaritas for me!

JULY

ONE

Weekend Trip to Avalon

We were in DESPERATE need of a change of scenery. We had not slept anywhere but our house since November of 2019. Normally we go down to the Jersey Shore every summer, but last summer the trip was (understandably) cancelled. This year, we couldn’t commit to a week down by the shore, so we settled for a weekend. It was JUST what we needed. We stayed at the Icona Avalon and it was perfection! Don’t worry, I will be doing a separate blog post about our trip.

TWO

Scream Truck

The Scream Truck is an on-demand ice cream truck. A few months ago they added our town to their list of deliveries! You can sign up for their text alerts and they let you know when they will be in your neighborhood. All you have to do is order your ice cream on their website and reply YES to their text message. Then, they arrive at your front door with your ice cream all ready to go! Nathan LOVES the Scream Truck. It has added some excitement to some really boring rainy weekends!

THREE

4th of July Weekend

4th of July Weekend was PERFECTION. We had hung out on the patio, ate lots of BBQ, wore our red, white, and blue, and lit a BUNCH of sparklers. SO MUCH FUN!

FOUR

Cars Car Wash

For almost a year I had been trying to track down an Ikea Filsat Table. Friends raved about how good it was for sensory activities and the like. I was FINALLY able to get my hands on one a few months ago (thank you Facebook Marketplace)! I decided to set up a car wash for Nathan’s Hot Wheels and Disney Cars in the Filsat Table using some foam soap I found at Target. It was a BIG HIT! It kept the kiddos busy for an hour!

FIVE

Late Night Ice Cream at Holsten’s Confectionery

E and I were able to steal away for dinner out one night. On our way to the restaurant, I noticed an ice cream shop that looked interesting. E and I decided that if we finished dinner before they closed, we would head over there for some dessert! Thankfully we finished just in time! Holsten’s Confectionery is located in Bloomfield, New Jersey and its Hollywood claim to fame is that the last scene from the series finale of The Sopranos was shot here. I ordered a cup of Black Raspberry Chip and E ordered a cup of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Both were FANTASTIC. The Black Raspberry Chip was as good if not better than the Raspberry Chip yogurt that we love from Sundae Best in Avalon.
