I have been eating this Matzah Pizza since I was little. My mother wanted to make matzah pizza that had a real crust so she made one! It is a fan favorite in our house. I look forward to making to making (and eating) it every year. Scroll down for my mama’s recipe!
Ingredients:
Matzah Farfel, 3 cups
Boiling Water, 2 ½ cups
Eggs, 5
Garlic Powder, to taste
Onion Powder, to taste
Italian Seasoning, to taste
Pizza or Marinara Sauce
Cheese
Pizza Toppings: mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, broccoli, roasted garlic
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Pour the matzah farfel into a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the boiling water over the matzah farfel. Mix then drain.
- Beat (or whisk) the eggs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, in a separate small bowl. Then pour the eggs over the matzah farfel. Mix well.
- Divide the crust mixture into a greased or parchment paper covered pan. I like to use disposable pans over Passover. You can make a thick or thin crust.
- Bake the crust for 10 minutes.
- Remove the crust from oven, then add marinara or pizza sauce and cheese. Add any toppings on top of the cheese. Sprinkle additional Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder on top.
- Bake the pizza for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly.
- Serve immediately!
