Poke Bowls with Poke Crew

This Poke Crew post has been a LONG TIME coming! I had a few back-end blog issues that I had to deal with, my parents were in town to visit with Nathan, and then our power went out after the latest Nor’easter. To say life has been CRAZY would be an understatement. Hence the delay! Sorry about that :-/

Two weekends ago, E, Nathan, and I headed up to Englewood, in North Jersey, to get some poke bowls for lunch at a new spot called Poke Crew. I found out about Poke Crew from a fellow blogger and knew we HAD to go! They had only opened six weeks prior to our visit. We really felt like we were in the know!

Yong and Titus are the two chef/owners at Poke Crew. They have both worked in fine dining in New York City for YEARS and both have worked at Michelin starred restaurants. The decided to open up Poke Crew to put their spin on the poke bowl!

OUR POKE CREW EXPERIENCE:

When we arrived we scanned the menu. There were so many great options to choose from! There are 10 signature bowls and a selection of daily specials at Poke Crew, all of which looked and sounded amazing.

In the end, I ordered their most popular bowl, The Crew (tuna and crispy shallots = YES PLEASE), while E ordered the Spicy Tuna (surprise, surprise). All Poke Crew poke bowls are made to order. The chefs take such care putting the bowls together. They are not only filled with delicious and high quality ingredients, but they also look beautiful too! The owners also whipped up a Skuna Bay bowl for us, which is their most popular salmon bowl. We had A LOT of food to eat!

I DUG IN to my Poke Crew bowl. The tuna was cool and fresh, the jalapeño added a nice spice which contrasted nicely with the sweetness of the pineapple. The cashews and crispy shallots and added a nice crunchy element. And the wasabi mayo brought everything together! E really enjoyed his Spicy Tuna bowl! The spicy tuna was perfection. I kept stealing little bites! I love that they paired it with seaweed salad and sriracha mayo. We both finished our respective bowls. Not a grain of rice left behind! We also really enjoyed the Skuna Bay salmon bowl. The salmon pieces were big and juicy, the ikura balls exploded in our mouths, and the wasabi yuzu brought brightness to the bowl.

To complement our Poke Crew bowls, we ordered two of their special iced tea infusions. E ordered the chamomile mixed with jeju mandarin and I ordered the hibiscus with cranberry quince. Both were very sweet and refreshing!

Everything we ate and drank was AMAZING. We cannot wait to go back!
