Homemade Sweet Potato Banana Baby Food

So…I never thought I would be THAT person who made baby food for their child. And to be completely honest, I am generally not that person. Occasionally, though, I do make Nathan homemade baby food. One of my favorite things to make for him are sweet potatoes. It is so easy and they are his favorite, too! Instead of plain sweet potatoes (read: BORING), I decided to mix it up a bit and add some banana. For a little extra flavor, I added cinnamon and sea salt. Nathan LOVED his sweet potato banana baby food! He couldn’t get enough!

Thankfully this recipe makes enough for a couple meals. I actually froze the rest of the sweet potato banana baby food in these little Oxo blocks. They are amazing!

If you are interested in my other baby food concoctions let me know and I will continue to post them here!

HOMEMADE SWEET POTATO BANANA BABY FOOD

Ingredients:

Sweet Potato, 1, large, peeled and sliced into large chunks

Banana, 1

Cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon

Sea Salt, pinch

Directions:

  1. Heat a medium pot of water on the stovetop.
  2. Place the peeled and sliced sweet potatoes into the water and boil until softened.
  3. Strain the sweet potatoes, place in a medium bowl and allow to cool.
  4. Once cooled, add the banana to the bowl.
  5. Using a potato masher or a fork, mash the banana and sweet potato together. Be careful not to mash it too much that you can’t see the banana.
  6. Add the cinnamon and sea salt to the mash and mix together.
  7. Serve to your little one or freeze for a later date!
