A love of reading is very important in our house. From the moment Nathan was born, we have been reading to him. As you probably saw in my post on Nathan’s nursery, we went a little overboard on the children’s books. His book collection has only grown over the last 10 months. I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorites here with you!
The Classics
Goodnight Moon – A classic that I remember my parents reading to me when I was a baby.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom – Such a fun book to read, and it always puts a smile on Nathan’s face.
Runaway Bunny – A sweet story, and the pictures are so pretty.
The Velveteen Rabbit: Or How Toys Become Real
Jamberry – Another favorite from my childhood, and the artwork is amazing.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear – I have read this book thousands of times, and it always makes me laugh.
Good Dog, Carl – If you have a dog, or grew up with one, you NEED this book!
New Favorites
Say Hello! – The illustrations are adorable, and I love that Nathan is learning about different cultures and languages.
Los Angeles 1 to 10 – I ordered this book as soon as I saw it. As an LA girl, I wanted to instill a love of LA in Nathan from a young age.
The Pout Pout Fish – One of the first new books I bought Nathan. I read it in song and Nathan LOVES it.
Next To You: A Book of Adorableness – I found out about this book from Amber Fillerup Clark of Barefoot Blonde. It is one of the cutest books ever!
Peek-A Who? – Nathan actually picked this book out for himself at Barnes and Noble. It is short and sweet!
VTech Musical Rhymes Book – To say Nathan is OBSESSED with the book would be a MAJOR understatement. E and I have heard the songs THOUSANDS of times!
Love Is a Truck – A recommendation from Cristina Toff, another local New Jersey blogger and mama. So adorable!
Plant The Tiny Seed – A recent purchase and I am already in LOVE!
Llama Llama Red Pajama – After seeing Ludacris rap the reading of this book (video HERE), I knew Nathan needed to own this.
Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site – Nathan is REALLY into trucks right now.
My Favorites
The Baby Blue Cat and the Whole Batch of Cookies – This book is not in print anymore, so I bought a used copy. It is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE books from when I was a kid.

Awww Goodnight Moon was my absolute favorite as a little girl. That, and Guess How Much I Love you (my dad still has a little copy of that above his bed with a picture of me as a kid)! So sweet how these books will become memories one day for your little!
I remember reading to my younger siblings growing up and how special it was! There’s so many great books out now that it amazes me.
Too cute! I always loved story time as a kid so I’m sure he’ll enjoy all of these!
