My 2018 Gift Guide for Kids

Over the next three days I will be sharing my three gift guides on the blog. One for her, one for him, and one for kiddos!

Today’s gift guide focuses on gifts for kids. These are all items that we own, love, and would highly recommend! They are all Nathan tested and (mama) approved!

Inklings

Last month, I attend the NJ Baby Expo hosted by NJ Mom. One of the vendors at the Expo was Inklings. Inklings started after a successful Kickstarter campaign. The founders aimed to create a fun and different looking stuffed animal. They decided to pair their new stuffed animal with a book that told the story of the stuffed animal. Out of this idea, Evie and Ollie the Oddball Oddbird was born! Ollie, the stuffed Oddbird, is so funny looking and, yet, adorable. She is also incredibly soft. Nathan loves to brush her fur up against his face like a blanket. It is so adorable. Nathan loves holding Ollie while we read him the story of Evie and Ollie! The set (book + Ollie) is less than $30 and makes such a cute gift.

Menorah

Last year my in laws purchased the most adorable personalized menorah for Nathan. He didn’t appreciate it at all at the time (how could he, he was only a few months old). He was ALL OVER IT this year! He loved taking the candles out of it and putting them back in. I can’t wait to see how his love for the menorah grows year after year.

Lillypost Book Subscription

I REALLY wanted to get Nathan a book subscription of some kind for Chanukah. After A LOT of research I found Lillypost. I bought him a 6 month subscription! Not only do they have subscriptions for different ages, they also donate one book to a child in need for every box that they deliver. Over 20,000 books have been donated thus far! Below I have photographed the first Lillypost box we received. Nathan loves all four of the books, though I think “Hey, Duck!” is is favorite at the moment. He has even started saying the word “duck”! Get $5 off your first Lillypost order by clicking this LINK!

Matchbox Cars

Nathan loves these little Matchbox cars and they are incredibly affordable. My parents bought Nathan this multipack for Chanukah. He loves saying “vroom, vroom” as he pushes them along the floor or on his highchair table. He also likes pushing them down the slide and throwing them off the side of the highchair, but I digress…

Melissa and Doug Pull Back Cars

Nathan received these cars for Chanukah last year. They are larger cars that vroom (yes, it is a verb) forward when you pull back on them. They are so fun!

Custom Photo Book

I made this photo book for Nathan last year just after the holidays. It includes photos of himself, his parents, grandparents, and all of his aunts and uncles with their names in big bold letters. He loves to flip the pages and point at the pictures. I think he loves it so much because they are pictures of all of his favorite people!

Wooden Tuk Tuk

My love for wooden toys is well documented. I did a WHOLE post on it HERE. A few months ago a friend of mine (who also happens to be the creator of Little Nomad Play Mats) introduced me to Plan Toys. I had never heard of them before! I decided to order a few for Nathan to gift to him over the next few months. I couldn’t resist gifting this wooden tuk tuk to him over Chanukah. E and I honeymooned in Thailand so tuk tuks hold a special place in our hearts. He has been playing with it non stop!
