For MONTHS E has been DYING to go to Joe’s Rotisseria in Roselle Park. One of his assistants told him about Joe’s, and he has been stalking them on Instagram ever since. Joe, the owner, creates new and interesting pizza combinations almost every day and posts about them. His most famous is the “Triple Threat” which combines pizza, garlic knots, and a calzone. While they do have a menu online, Joe insists that you treat their Instagram page as their menu since they are always adding new combinations.
One of the perks of maternity leave is that I have been able to occasionally have lunch with E during the week. Two Fridays ago, E, Nora, and I met at Joe’s for lunch. It is located just three minutes from E’s office, and they have a parking lot!
The place was hoppin’ when we walked in. We approached the counter, and Joe himself was there making pizzas. I talked with him about a few of his creations while E scanned through Instagram to pick out what he wanted to order. We decided to order the Triple Threat. It sounded amazing, and I wanted to start with what made them famous. Joe told us it would be 12 minutes until our pie was ready, so we found a table and sat down.
While we waited, Joe was very engaging, talking with us about his restaurant, the craziness of the Las Vegas Pizza Expo, having not yet met Scott Wiener of Scott’s Pizza Tours (a definite must-do in NYC), and wanting to hear about what E and I do for a living. He then treated us to a slice of his “Sexy Italian” pizza, which has fried eggplant, fresh mozzerella, roasted red peppers, balsamic glaze, and a cheesy stuffed crust. It is easily one of the best eggplant pizzas I have ever had. The eggplant was perfectly crisp and didn’t taste oily at all.
Then it was finally time for the main event. When Joe brought the “Triple Threat” over to our table, I felt like there should have been hype music playing in the background. It was GLORIOUS! After snapping several photos (inside and outside – thank you Joe for the art direction), we were ready to eat! The pizza came with a side of vodka sauce for dipping. The slices are so long that they span two paper plates. The “Triple Threat” was LOADED with cheese and garlic; two of my favorite ingredients. E and I each ate two slices and then took the rest home. We were STUFFED. The leftovers made for a delicious lunch at home the next day.
We will DEFINITELY be going back soon! I can’t wait to try one of their crazier combinations!
This pizza looks so yummy! Thanks for sharing, hope you are having a great day.
