A little over a year ago I was introduced to Beautycounter by fellow blogger and mama, Katie Vail, from Stripes + Whimsy. Just before I had Nora, I was watching Katie’s stories and she mentioned that ALL Beautycounter products are safe during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. This definitely caught my attention. I breastfed Nathan for 9 months and was planning on doing the same for Nora. I decided to order Katie’s two favorite products, the Counter+ No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil and Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel, to test them out! I easily ordered them online through Katie’s Beautycounter shop.
I have now been using both products for a little over a year and I am FINALLY ready to share my honest opinion with you!
Of the two products that I purchased, I think the Counter+ No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil is my favorite. I use it EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. I mix three drops of the oil into my moisturizer (I use this Beauty Pie moisturizer everyday – see my Beauty Pie review HERE) every morning and smooth it into my face. I had never really used a face oil before this one because I have naturally oily skin. I was always afraid that a face oil would make me break out more. That has definitely NOT been the case. If anything, my skin has never been clearer. The Counter+ No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil makes my skin instantly feel hydrated, soft, and fresh. It has helped me keep my face feeling moisturized during the dry winter months. As far as good facial oils go, it is actually reasonably affordable. Especially considering how long each bottle lasts! I am just now finishing my first bottle and it has been a year. I actually just received my refill order yesterday!
I have been using the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel once or twice a week after I wash my face, just before getting into bed. Honestly, my pre-bed beauty routine isn’t that involved. I wash my face or wipe off the day, brush my teeth (I am a good dentist’s wife, after all), and then go to sleep. After making dinner, bath time, putting the kids to bed, cleaning up, working out, and blogging (usually in bed or on the couch watching TV), beauty is the LAST thing on my mind. I occasionally do a face mask – but that is about it. So when the Counter+ Overnight Resurfacing Peel arrived, I wasn’t really sure how I was going to use it. I used the Peel the first night after receiving it (HOLY COW IT SMELLS DIVINE) and was pretty impressed with the results the next morning. Even after only just one use, my skin felt softer and looked brighter. I was a little worried the Peel might irritate my skin but it did not. Over this last year, I have also noticed a reduction in the number of visible spots on my face. That is a BIG WIN!
