My Fave Five – April 2020

April was an INSANE month. We celebrated our first Passover in New Jersey, just the four of us. It was definitely an experience. We typically fly to Los Angeles to spend the holiday with my family but, unfortunately, we had to cancel due to the pandemic. The rest of the month has been filled with lots of bread, pretzels, and donuts (we missed them over Passover), work, Disney+, and activities. It also marked the first FULL month that I worked from home full time with both kids. All I can say about that is WOW. It has been definitely been hard, but it has also been fun.

Here are my five faves from April 2020!

ONE

DIY Pretzel Kit from Get Stuffed

Ever since Get Stuffed opened in Union, New Jersey, E and I have been ordering from them. It is our late night go-to. I am a little embarrassed to admit how often we order from them. They are THAT GOOD. We love their pretzel bombs, pretzel nuggets, pretzel pizza, and mango slushy. When quarantine started, they posted about their DIY Pretzel Kit on their Instagram. The Pretzel Kit included pretzel dough, oil for brushing, chocolate frosting, vanilla frosting, cinnamon sugar, caramel, and sprinkles. OBVIOUSLY, we had to order it. The question we had was whether or not to make the pretzels with Nathan. Should we share? Decisions, decisions… We decided to share, and I am SO HAPPY we did. Nathan had the best time making his own pretzels and then decorating them. Nora even enjoyed a bite or two! We made such a mess, but it was a memorable experience for all of us. And the pretzels were DELICIOUS! I am sure we will be ordering the DIY Pretzel Kit again very soon (along with some other goodies, too).

TWO

Juicer

I had been toying with the idea of ordering a juicer for a long time. I just wasn’t sure we would use it often enough to justify the expense. A few weeks ago, I watched Beth, of Seersucker + Saddles, juicing some fruit and veggies with her son (who is around Nathan’s age) on Instagram, and that sealed the deal for me. Her son was so enthusiastic about being involved in the process, and he really enjoyed the juice too. I knew Nathan would really enjoy it too! I ordered this juicer, which also just so happened to be on sale, on a Sunday, and it arrived two days later! I immediately opened the box and juiced some carrots and apples. I mixed the juice with some Tito’s vodka, and I had a DELICIOUS cocktail. We have since used the juicer every other morning to make fresh juice for everyone. We always use a mix of fruit and veggies. I think Nathan loves the juicer almost as much as I do!

THREE

My Neighbor’s Cherry Blossom Tree

THIS TREE IS GIVING ME LIFE. I have been watching it every day and taking photographs. It has been so fun to watch it bloom! I will be sad when all of the flowers fall off, but at least I will have all of these pretty photos to remember it by.

FOUR

Grovemade Laptop Stand

My laptop stand is tied with the juicer for the BEST quarantine purchase. This stand has made working from home with the kiddos infinitely more comfortable and sustainable. I work from the couch 95% of the time, and I HATE having a hot laptop sitting on my lap. This stand is gorgeous, made in the USA, and comfortable to sit with for HOURS. Believe me, I sit with it on my lap for at LEAST 8 hours a day!

FIVE

Oh Crap!: Potty Training

We decided at the beginning of this quarantine to potty train Nathan. A few of his friends had recently been potty trained, and he was interested in the potty. I had heard from friends that the Oh Crap! method was the way to go, so we decided to go with it. We started on a Friday 6 weeks ago, and it has been (mostly) smooth sailing ever since. Nathan has been a champ! It has been SO NICE to not have to buy diapers for him.
