My Fave Five – October 2020

October was filled with ALL of the Fall activities. From apple picking, to pumpkin bread baking, to leaf peeping. We did it all! Just because we are in the middle of a pandemic, doesn’t mean that you can’t have a little fun and celebrate the season!

Here are my five faves from October 2020!

ONE

Day Trip to Peekskill, New York

One Sunday in early October, E and I were looking for something fun for us to do as a family. It was a beautiful day, and we wanted to get out and explore. Unfortunately, due to COVID, our options were really limited. I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a fellow blogger had visited a city called Peekskill, New York. The town looked really cute, and they had a brewery that had outdoor seating. I thought it could be fun to check out the leaves, walk around with the kiddos, and check out a new brewery. We piled everyone in the car, and off we went!

The drive took a little over an hour, but the views were spectacular! So many pretty leaves changing colors along the way. We really enjoyed wandering around Peekskill, sitting by the water, and drinking some beers outside at Peekskill Brewery. We will definitely be going back!

TWO

Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings

I have been craving Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings since March. I FINALLY convinced E to go into NYC to get some! We actually made a day of it. We wandered around lower Manhattan in search of all of our favorite food. We started our foodie adventure at Mimi Cheng’s and, boy, did their dumplings not disappoint. I only wish we could have taken more home with us! Nathan was a big fan of the dumplings too. Check out his little hand trying to steal one from my plate!

*SIDE NOTE: I need to find out what Mimi Cheng’s puts in their secret sauce. I want to put it on EVERYTHING. Also, now I want more dumplings…

THREE

Dash Waffle Maker

BEST OCTOBER PURCHASE. This waffle maker is only $10, and it is AMAZING. It comes with a basic waffle recipe that is super easy and delicious. I have been making all sorts of waffles for the kiddos all month long (pumpkin, sprinkles, chocolate chip, etc.) and they have been such a big hit! I make a batch and then store them in a Tupperware in the fridge. Then I just toast them up for the kiddos (or myself) as we want them!

FOUR

Date Night at the Soft Opening of Ani Ramen in Cranford, NJ

You KNOW how much E and I love Ani Ramen. We have been going to Ani since we got back from our trip to Japan back in 2015. Ani Ramen JUST opened a new location in Cranford! We were lucky enough to be invited to their soft opening. They treated E and me to an amazing meal of all of our favorites. It was actually our first night out, just the two of us, since February. It was so nice to have a date, just us. Even if it was at 5PM!

FIVE

Halloween

While Halloween looked a little different this year, the kiddos still had an amazing time getting dressed up and eating ALL of the candy. I still cannot get over Nathan’s USPS Mail Carrier costume, and Nora’s Anna from Frozen costume. They both looked so cute!
