New Year, Same Me

I am not usually one for New Year’s resolutions. In the few years that I have made them, I have almost always forgotten about them by mid-February, and then I feel guilty. Why do we do this to ourselves?! This year, I made a few resolutions, but tried to go easy on myself. We are, after all, still living through a pandemic!

This year, my only BIG resolution is to continue to BE MYSELF. As Robin Arzon says, almost daily, on her Peloton rides, “you are 1 of 1, an original.” And boy, is that true. This resolution is easy since every day I wake up and just try to be the best version of me.

After seeing so many small businesses struggle or close over the last year, I have pledged to try and shop small when I can. I already started doing this in 2020, and will continue to do so this year and beyond. I saw a quote recently about small businesses that really resonated with me: “When you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance.” I have become friendly with so many small business owners over the last few years, and I see how much every order means to them. If I can be more intentional with my spending and be the reason for those happy dances, then why the hell not. I am also going to make more of a conscious effort to feature more small businesses on the blog!

Throughout the pandemic and quarantine, I have become acutely aware of how much clothing I have and how much of it I actually wear. This year I am going to TRY to limit myself to one new item of clothing each month (inspired by Virginia Nam of Instagram). I haven’t bought anything for January yet. While I don’t NEED anything, I have been eyeing these Eadaie sweatpants from Murray and Finn in Summit, NJ (one of my ALL TIME FAVES). Imagine working from home in them all day…I would be so cozy!

Wish me luck with all of these! We are already 18 days into January and, I have to say, they are going pretty well.

Did you make an New Year’s resolutions this year? If so, I would love to hear what they are and how they are going!
