Summer Gift Bags for Kids

A little over a month ago, Caitlin, from The Mama Notes, shared the most adorable summer baskets that she made for her kids on Instagram. She mentioned that she picked up most of the items for the baskets at Dollar Tree. I was inspired to do the same for my kiddos. Thankfully, there is a Dollar Tree right in town!

Dollar Tree had so many fun summer themed items! They had summer decor, tableware, stickers, toys, arts and crafts, and MORE! In less than twenty minutes, I had a shopping basket full of stuff for their baskets (including the baskets themselves)! And I only spent about $20. Not bad at all! Fun summer surprises don’t have to be expensive!

The baskets had a little bit of extra space so I added a few additional things that I knew the kids would need over the summer anyway, including new beach towels, a book or two, and some new water toys. I added a Finding Nemo towel for (Nemo OBSESSED) Nora and an Avengers towel for (superhero OBSESSED) Nathan.

We gave the kiddos their baskets on their first day of camp and they were THRILLED! Nathan couldn’t get over how many different surprises were in his bag. Nora dumped everything onto the floor immediately. She wanted to read her new Finding Dory book that instant! Nathan decided to save most of the contents of his summer bag for our weekend getaway down to Avalon, New Jersey. He is already packing his suitcase!! We can’t wait for the beach!
