My Fave Five – September 2021

Late again! I know! What can I say? Life happens!

Time to share my five favorites from September 2021!

ONE

Apple Picking at Battleview Orchards

We LOVE to go apple picking every fall. Each year, though, it has gotten more and more expensive to go. Many of the orchards have an entrance fee on top of paying for what you pick. Some friends of ours suggested checking out Battleview Orchards in Freehold. They said it was great AND they don’t charge an entrance fee. You ONLY pay for what you pick! So we loaded the kiddos in the car and off we went! It was EXCELLENT! We picked a bunch of apples, a couple pumpkins, took A LOT of pictures, and had a great time!

TWO

Lunch at Alternate Ending Beer Company

So…if I am being honest. I did NOT want to go to Alternate Ending. We had just finished apple picking and I had my heart SET on a caprese sandwich from Joe Leone’s (my FAVORITE). But, it was E’s birthday weekend, so I obliged his request that we have lunch at Alternate Ending. The food menu looked interesting so I figured, why not give it a try? Well…. I was VERY IMPRESSED. Everything we ordered was delicious. The two stand outs for me were the Street Corn Fries and the Cornholio Detroit style pizza. The Street Corn Fries were ADDICTIVE. I kept going back for more! The crispiness of the fries, the creaminess of the sauce, the saltiness of the cheese, and the spicy from the Takis. SO GOOD. The Cornholio Detriot style pizza was OUT OF THIS WORLD (mix of mascarpone, mozz, brick cheese, sweet corn, roasted garlic, and basil oil). E really enjoyed their beer, too.

THREE

Eric’s Birthday

We celebrated E with cake, beer, and dinner out at Boulevard 572 in Kenilworth. Nathan loved helping me bake and decorate the cake. Why a pink cake, you ask? Well, E really loves strawberry shortcake, so we decided to make him one! With special strawberry icing!

FOUR

Gymnastics at Sunburst

At the beginning of September we started both kids in gymnastics. Nathan LOVED it immediately. For Nora, it has taken a little time, but she really enjoys it. She loves all of the different obstacle courses that they set up, and is OBSESSED with the trampoline!

FIVE

Back to School

After a little bit of a delay (thank you Hurricane Ida flooding), Nathan officially started Pre-K in public school! It has been a bit of an adjustment for him, but he is flourishing! He has so many new little friends.
