At the end of the summer, our family traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii for a little vacation. It was our first big trip since COVID. Thank you vaccines! We hadn’t been on a plane since November 2019. This was BIG DEAL for us. We had four flights. One to Los Angeles, then to Hawaii, then back to Los Angeles, then back to New Jersey.
We were a little worried about car seat availability at our car rental in Hawaii (there had been many a news story about rental car shortages on the Islands, etc.), so we decided to bring our own, just to be safe. Unfortunately, our regular car seats are quite bulky and are not really an easy option for travel. We needed to seriously consider alternatives.
A travel blogger I follow posted about the WAYB Pico Portable Car Seat on Instagram, so I decided to check them out. Everyone seemed to have only positive things to say about them. So, I decided to take a chance and order two car seats, one for Nathan and one for Nora. I ordered them well in advance of the trip just to make sure we would have them when we needed them.
A few nights before our trip, E and I (FINALLY) opened the WAYB boxes and we were pleasantly surprised by how light the car seats were. We packed them up in the Pico Travel Bags and we were all ready to go! E and I each carried one car seat onto the plane. We decided to use them on the plane as well. We felt safer knowing that the kiddos were secure in their seats. The car seats were super easy to install; they took less than 5 minutes each. The kids sat comfortably in their car seats for the entire flight!
When we landed, we waited for everyone else to deplane first, and then we uninstalled each of the car seats in seconds. We packed them back up in our travels bags, and off we went!
The car seats were also incredibly easy to install in our rental cars in Hawaii. We had two rental cars, so we installed one in each and we had no issues!
I would highly recommend the WAYB Pico Portable Car Seat to anyone looking for a travel car seat. We really loved them!
We will be taking a least one of the car seats with us to Los Angeles over Thanksgiving!
*This post is NOT sponsored by WAYB. I paid full price for both of our Pico Car Seats.
