Playroom Sneak Peek

Over the last year or so, E and I have been working on a BIG home renovation. Part of that renovation involved essentially ripping out our entire downstairs and starting from scratch. You see, our home was originally built as a mother-daughter. A family lived upstairs, and the mother-in-law lived downstairs. Both floors had full kitchens, living rooms, and dining rooms. We decided to transform the house into a single family home. That meant ripping out the downstairs kitchen, living room, and dining room. In their place, we put in a wet bar (full blog post coming soon!!), laundry room, guest room, guest bathroom, man cave, and playroom.

We are in the process of decorating all of these spaces. I couldn’t resist sharing a sneak peek of our new playroom!

All of our kid spaces have rugs, courtesy of Lorena Canals. They are my favorite rugs because they are machine washable. We recently had an accident in Nathan’s room, and it was so nice to be able to throw his rug directly into the washing machine! I chose this rug for the playroom because I knew it would complement the space, and would blend nicely with the wooden toys and rest of the decor.

As I have mentioned previously, I am a BIG proponent of wooden toys. Many of my favorites are featured front and center here. I am so excited for Nathan to grow up playing with his new wooden kitchen. It was a very special gift for his 1st birthday, and he is FINALLY old enough to appreciate it. It is so fun seeing him wash fruit and vegetables in the sink, and then put pots and pans on the stovetop or into the oven. We may have a future chef on our hands!

Nathan loves to ride his robot rocking horse while watching TV. It was our big gift to him for his 1st birthday. I grew up with a real handmade rocking horse, named Dandy, so it was very important to me that our children have one as well. Nathan has also really been enjoying his easel. One side is magnetic so he has been reorganizing the magnets NON-STOP.

My next project is finally decorating the walls. I have framed all of Nathan’s artwork from his first year of life, and I will be hanging them in the playroom. I will be doing the same for Nora’s artwork, as well! It truly will be a kids playroom!

Scroll down to shop our playroom. If there are any specific pieces you are interested in that I have not linked, send me an email and I will tell you where the item came from!

When the room is complete I will share the finished product. Hopefully that is soon!
