What I Actually Wore To Work Last Week

I have been inspired by Grace Atwood, of The Stripe, and Emily Schuman, of Cupcakes and Cashmere, to share what I actually wear to work in a given week. Both bloggers have been sharing their real outfits for a little while now, and I love it! Once a month (because remembering to have someone take a picture of me every single day would be too hard) I will be sharing a week’s worth of REAL work outfits on the blog.

If you didn’t know already, in addition to blogging, I work full-time as an in-house lawyer at a small telecommunications company. Our dress code is business casual Monday through Thursday, and then, on Friday, we can we wear jeans.

So here we go…a new monthly series called “What I Actually Wore To Work Last Week” starts NOW!

MONDAY

This outfit is one of my favorite work outfits, and it is all because of the pants. They are REVOLUTIONARY!

Just before maternity leave ended, Julia, of Lemon Stripes, introduced me (via her Instagram Stories) to these workout pants that double as work pants. I IMMEDIATELY ran to my mall and scooped up four pair! The fit is great, they are super lightweight and comfortable, and nobody can even tell that they are workout pants. I have been wearing them (almost every day) with a variety of cute tops from Loft. I always pick up a few when they have a big sale. I finished the look with my new Tory Burch sandals. I FINALLY took the plunge and bought them. Of course, they are just as comfortable as everyone says they are. They have quickly become my favorite sandal in my closet!

The BEST part of this outfit is that it is ENTIRELY machine washable! Over the last year, I have made a concerted effort to not buy anything that is dry clean only. Dry cleaning is EXPENSIVE!

TUESDAY

If I am not in my new “workout” pants, then I am almost definitely in a pair of these leggings. I probably have five or six pair in my dresser. They are made of ponte fabric, which stretches well without stretching out. They wash really well and they keep their color wash after wash. And they are almost always on SALE! I have never paid full price for a pair EVER. If you work in an office, you MUST grab a few pair. Here, I paired them with a simple tee shirt, a comfortable blazer, a pair of rattan mules (under $25), and a black knot headband (currently on sale).

WEDNESDAY

Another day, another pair of these ponte leggings. This time, in navy! I paired them with another cute top from Loft from a couple years ago. I layered my new sweater blazer on top because my office is always an icebox. I bought the sweater blazer in black, navy, and camel.

THURSDAY

Not sure why, but I REALLY wanted to wear a skirt on Thursday. So I dug deep into my closet and found this gem from several years ago. I linked a few similar options below. And, of course, I paired it with another Loft top. This outfit seals it. I have a Loft addiction. This top is from a few years ago, but it is still in style! And it is machine washable. SCORE!

FRIDAY

My FAVORITE day of the week! JEANS DAY! And I didn’t even wear anything that exciting… I wore a pair of stretchy light blue denim from last year, paired with a basic black tee, and these fun denim flats (ON SALE).
