A Pandemic Friendly Date Night

Date night has taken on an entirely different look during the pandemic. Gone are the days of going to the movies, or driving into New York City for a Broadway show and dinner at Nobu. To be honest, even though things have opened up quite a bit here in New Jersey, E and I have not really felt comfortable going out to eat at a restaurant. Part of that is because we would have to bring the kids with us. We haven’t had anyone babysit them since before the quarantine started! So…our date nights now typically involve pajamas, the couch, and some Pipcorn Cheese Balls (the obsession is REAL) or Jeni’s Ice Cream (by the pint, if you know what I’m saying…).

A few weeks ago, I decided that it would be fun to get dressed up and bring in some fancy dinner from one of our favorite local restaurants. After the kids went to bed, we put on outfits that we would normally wear out on date night (of course, I wore jeans) and ate a nice uninterrupted meal together at our dining room table (such a luxury, you have no idea). It almost felt like a real date night!

It was so nice to wear pieces from my closet that haven’t seen the light of day over the last five months. I actually purchased this top at the beginning of March during one of Shopbop’s Buy More, Save More sales. I paired it with my favorite jeans of the moment, from Mother Denim (purchased at Sadie James Boutique) and my new heeled sandals from Naturalizer. When we are able to SAFELY eat out again, this outfit will DEFINITELY be on repeat!
