My Weekly Menu Planning Journey

A few months ago, I was wandering the aisles of The Container Store, as one does (it is my Disneyland). I saw this weekly magnetic dry erase board and was intrigued. I thought, this could be VERY useful as a weekly meal planning board. Meal planning has ALWAYS been a struggle for me. I would try to plan meals in my head and then go food shopping. Unfortunately, that strategy led to A LOT of food waste. Since the weekly magnetic dry erase board was only $7.99, I decided to give it a try.

I don’t know about you, but we have been eating all of our meals at home due to the pandemic, and I cook almost every single one of those meals. There is one exception, and that is the once a week that we order dinner in. We have been trying to order from a different local restaurant each week to support our favorite local businesses. It has been hard to find new and fun things to cook.

The magnetic dry erase board has really helped inspire my weekly dinner ideas. Instead of coming up with dinners each night on the fly, every Sunday night I sketch out a menu for the week on the board. I check out different blogs and cookbooks and pull a bunch of recipes together. We occasionally deviate from the menu (usually for spur of the moment take out or leftovers from the night before) but, for the most part, we do stick to it.

I am so thankful I picked it up! Who knew that a little magnetic dry erase board could revolutionize my life?! Maybe it will help organize yours too!
