DIY Summer Tie Dye

Three summers ago, I attempted tie dying with Nathan. To be completely honest, I was a nervous wreck the entire time. I was worried that he was going to stain his clothing, his face, his whole body. You name it. He REFUSED to wear gloves but, instead of freaking out and stopping while we were ahead, I went with it. I am SO happy I did! While he definitely made a big mess (and his hands were stained blue for a couple days), he had an AMAZING time, and he loved wearing his designs.

Now we tie dye EVERY summer! It has become one of my favorite summer traditions! This is the kit we use. This year, my brother, David, joined us. Nathan tie dyed masks (he LOVES wearing them to daycare) and a few tee shirts for himself and Nora. David and I tie dyed a bunch of shirts, tank tops, and a few sweatshirts. I was most excited about the sweatshirts! You know I love a summer sweatshirt beach moment (see HERE). I bought simple white sweatshirts on Amazon for $9.99.

What I love about tie dye, is that you never really know what your design is going to look like until you cut off all of the rubber bands. It is such a fun surprise! I love how the sweatshirts turned out. They are so bright and colorful. And oh so cozy! I have been pairing mine with denim shorts, as shown here, or my fave leggings.

If you are thinking about tie dye this summer, you should definitely give it a shot! It is so easy and super fun! And then you will have new bright and colorful clothing to wear all summer long!
