As you know, we have an EXTENSIVE Halloween and fall themed kids book selection. We break them out on October 1st every year, and read them all season long. Check out my post from last year on our favorite Halloween and fall themed books for kids HERE and HERE.
Every year, we add a few new books to our collection. This year, in addition to purchasing a few new Halloween and fall themed books, we were very lucky to have been gifted some by Simon & Schuster for our review.
Scroll down to check out some of our new favorites!
BOO! BAA, LA LA LA! by Sandra Boynton – Nora LOVES Moo, Baa, La La La! so I knew that the Halloween themed Boo! Baa, La La La would be a hit as well. She loves to scream BOO every time we read this book!
Hardly Haunted by Jessie Sima – An adorable story about a house who fears she might be haunted. In the end, she learns to love her cobwebbs, squeaks, and creaks! Not a true Halloween book, but it is spooky and beautifully illustrated.
Knock Knock, Trick or Treat! by Amy E. Sklansky – The kiddos love a lift the flap book, and this one is no different. Behind every door is another spooky character!
Llama Llama Trick or Treat by Anna Dewdney – Who doesn’t love a Llama Llama holiday themed book?! I think we own almost every single one. The illustrations are fun, and the rhymes are always cute too.
Here Comes Fall by Susan Kantor – The cutest little board book to introduce your little ones to the Fall season. So colorful!
It’s Halloween by Jack Prelutsky – This is not a new release, but it is new to me. It is a book of poems about Halloween. They are so fun! Nathan loves this one.
Vampenguin by Lucy Ruth Cummins – A delightful little story about baby Dracula who visits the zoo with his family. Baby Dracula escapes his stroller to join the penguins, and a baby penguin escapes his exhibit and slips into baby Dracula’s stroller.
Amara and the Bats by Emma Reynolds – A beautiful book about a girl named Amara who LOVES bats. When she moves to a new town, Amara learns that the bats have left because too many trees have been cut down. Amara mobilizes her friends and family to SAVE THE BATS! She is a little environmentalist!
The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree by Stan Berenstain – A CLASSIC! E reminded me that this book existed so we bought it for the kiddos. They love it!
Daniel Visits a Pumpkin Patch by Maggie Testa – Nora is ALL about Daniel Tiger at the moment. This book follows Daniel through his visit to the local pumpkin patch. It is very cute and fall appropriate!
The Bad Seed Presents: The Good, the Bad, and the Spooky by Jory John – We LOVE the Bad Seed so I knew we would enjoy this new Halloween themed release. It is all about the Bad Seed’s quest to find the perfect costume. And the illustrations by Pete Oswald are amazing!
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown by Charles M. Schulz – Another classic that we just purchased. Nathan has recently started liking everything Snoopy so I knew I had to buy this book! Will the Great Pumpkin rise out of the pumpkin patch and bring toys to all of the children? I guess you need to read the book to find out!
